I have to agree...You hear that bikes are treated the same but are they?? I've never seen a harley pulled over or a muscle car pulled over for being too loud...and fuck that safety shit, if you think your bike has to be loud to help save your life well here's a suggestion....buy a car!

That was the next sentence after what you quoted...

Edit: also i dont get this part: Bumpers are designed to absorb some of the crash impact and reduce intrusion, thus reducing collision damage and personal injury. On passenger cars, bumpers must be between 380 and 560 millimetres above the road surface. On trucks, the lowest part of the bumper can’t be more than 750 millimetres above the road surface. Bumpers must also have a vertical surface of at least 100 millimetres.
- where are you supposed to measure from? the lowest part of the bumper?
i didn't quote i read the page haha whoops. and i think it is up to the cop weather he/she wants to pull over a bike/car/truck and im assuming last night because my headlight was out the cop saw a chance/excuse to check out all of our cars because before that all happen i had driven by probably 10+ cops and they didn't even look.

We'll never see a lot of these bikes or muscle cars getting pulled over because a majority of them are older adults. This whole decibal reading stuff didn't really start happening till a few years ago, likely when old people started complaining about the noise a lot of the imports make. I don't see any issue with it really because there are lots of time when I get annoyed by kids driving like idiots at all hours of the night behind my house.
And of coarse they are going to target the younger crowd. A lot of older people hate the way imports sound, and who is going to be heard first, older people or kids?? Just something we all have to live with. I, to an extent, think it's stupid that imports are ragged on for loud exhausts, when a guy can go buy a brand new Harley and it's just as loud or usually louder. They won't make someone change a part that is factory on the bike.
Anyway, if they start to crack down on the muffler noise again, just be sure you know what the proper procedure for testing is. A few years ago, a car was pulled over and tested behind my house, and the cop was doing it wrong. He was holding it a foot away from the tip, directly in front of the exhaust. It's supposed to be three feet away and off to the side or something. Can't remember for sure as this topic hasn't really come up for awhile...I don't think.

you dont see other cars getting pulled over because they dont stand out as much, the stickers obviously are like a cop magnet i can spot jesse exners car from a mile away whenever im at work.
so you just gotta make a choice if you want to stand out or not.
as far as exhausts if your driving at a reasonable rpm range on the streets usually they arent that loud and noticeable

When SGI implemented the exhaust db fine, I think a couple of guys from the 306 did their own investigation and found... SGI said no louder than 88db, a new (2008) Saturn Ion was at 90db. Any exhaust system with a resonator can be considered to reduce noise which it does... just not very much, and be ware of the "trumpet" style tip or muffler. To measure db properly you need to be in a sound proof room so there is no echo or reverberation. As for the rest if you guys like, stop by the shop and I can let you know whats up. We are an SGI inspection station.

I have just been informed that April will be the month to be careful. Every year they focus on certain things, and usually April is when they crack down on the imports. So drive reasonably and have your car up to code, or you may get dinged.
And ya Corey...Harley's were brought up. If you couldn't see the relevance...

stickers alone do not make you get dirty looks. I have a shit load of stickers on my car and i drove around with 1 headlight on for almost a year and I didn't get any of these "dirty looks". just stop looking like a hooligan!
