I have a friend that has been playing MW2 for the last few days online - got it from work somehow - didn't purchase it that I know of...

the kicker is they are playing team deathmatch online - I would have thought xbox would have had a little shit about it - as its not released..

i guarantee you itsnot people "stealing" the games and playing them. Not only would they be fired but the store gets fined like $50,000 or something crazy like that. I'm sure its people who have hook ups and got the game given to them "legally" before the release date.

i know at HMV if a copy of any game is sold before the release date then an angry email from the production company usually follows shortly after. i guess its an honor system mostly because the companies wont usually press charges if its just one or two copies put out before the release. i guess if they were to sell like 20 copies there would be some trouble though.

also, they have to ship early in order to keep up with demand, this probably also means that servers will be up early and running stress tests so that they dont crash on release date when millions of people start playing on them.
