| ha.
a JDM one will cost you a pretty penny. iv seen lots that are around the 10+ mark landed.
the ones that are locals are pretty badly beaten up, rusted, falling apart, really high kms and people still want 2-3 or even 4 grand.
big market for them, and the sellers know it. If you started your search.....oh lets say 5-6 years ago, you would of found something no problem.
dont get your hopes up to high

| All of those cars can be relatively expensive, the sad fact is that if you wanted to get into drifting your chosen car would almost have to be your DD.... Unless you have a lot of cash. Most people are aware if their cars can be used in the sport and charge accordingly. The reason I laughed earlier because if the AE86 was that cheap alot more of us would be driving them. But for the money you would pay for one now.... it is not worth it. They are slow and not much can be done to fix that as it messes with its perfect weight distribution. I guess the bottom line is, if you are looking to get a decent rwd than you are looking at 4500 at least, and to me that is even pushing it. Whatever you save on the bottom end is going to have to be put into make it drift worthy.
Other cars you could look at are toyota Soarer, maybe an Aristo or an old Datsun. (This is just me brain storminng0 and no go on the mustang.
Anyway, if you find an AE86 don't let me know as I will try to out bid you on it.

You sold cars or somethng like that..what is in his price range for a decent drift car? I am going to say nothing worth having!

| the only way to go cheaper is to buy a cheaper car. when buying a cheaper car you start dealing with rusted frames, high kms engines (sure some hold up, but lots wont) , lots of "little" things that need to be replaced like wheel bearings, seals, gaskets , ball joints, bushings etc | |

| Some of us did and now they need new engines.
Japanese auction are great but it is the shipping, tax, duties and all the other fees that get you. Like I said at this point most people have these cars for a reason or at least understand they can be sold for a decent amount if it is in decent shape. Don't believe me make an offer on Project_S13's car. the cheapest 240 I have seen as of late was the one Adrian sold to Corey. Or ask Corey how cheap his new car was. The thing is you buy a car cheap you are going to need sink a few bucks into before it is track worthy. If you find one far away you are going to pay shipping plus repairs.
It might be cheaper just to become one those people who believe in the myth of drifting a FWD... at least this way your Type R will see mods you have discussed prior.

| good luck finding one. This is pretty much every guys dream who has ever watched Initial D. You want a cheap RWD car with near 50/50 wieght distrobution? Seriously consider a 1985-1991 BMW 3 series( and I'm not saying that becasue I have a shit load of parts I need to unload). You can get a decent one for around $3000. it has a straight 6, with a fair amount of torque, they love to rev, they came with a factory LSD, and you can swap in a DOHC m50/m52 6 cylinder(out of a 1992-1999 BMW) for around $2000, and ///M3 motors are a direct swap. The engine bay is large enough to house EVERY BMW engine ever made, yes that includes the V12.. And parts aren;t that expensive, yes they are more than civic parts, but you get what you pay for. Plus they are boxy, and you get to tell all the ladies you own a BMW. But apparently that doesn't help? | |

| Hey David, I knew this day would come. I'd say if your going to get something like this you want it to be street worthy, you will get very sick of having to purchase permits for track days and you will want to drive it around on the streets. Plus you most defienlty don't want something that is rusty and beat to shit, after awhile you will want it not only to be a bad ass track car but also for it to look somewhat pretty, right?
That being said, don't buy a 240sx. Plain and simple they are not only gay, but very ugly cars and drive like shit. I like where you would be going with the corolla idea maybe you will just have to wait out and keep checking even over the winter months who knows prices may lower a little?
I don't know if you've thought about this but selling that Type R would give you a rather large chunk of money that you could sink into not only a functional track car but something that will turn heads, in a good way of course.
