Need for some help from people in the neighborhood Empty
PostSubject: Need for some help from people in the neighborhood   Need for some help from people in the neighborhood Icon_minitimeJune 14th 2010, 7:06 pm

I'm new to this forum and I'd like to say hello to everyone at Queen City Automotive. I got a tip to check your forum with hope that I can get some help and good advice here and hopefully stay a lot longer on this forum and this awesome town that is Regina. The situation for me is very bad since I recently moved here from Ottawa. I have an 1996 Acura Integra SE which failed initial provincial safety and now I have very little time left and I'd rather not sell my car for something else, even if I could sell it here. Things that failed are totally retarded so here's the ridiculous list that cost me $100 from Wholesale Tire and auto service:

-aftermarket window tint
-aftermarket muffler
-aftermarket headlamps
-tint over tail lamps
- ABS brakes
-front park lamps
-no front bumper
-both rocker panels rusted out (just fixed)

I have come to a conclusion that front seat window tint is removable but the rest is a load of BS and some things don't make any sense at all. If anyone knows best way to proceed in Regina'd be great as I gotta have this done ASAP. The truth is the car is literally in mint condition but really I don't know who to turn to here without that grim expression on their face just cos it's a normally modded car.Thanks.

Most of those are valid reasons to fail a car, I fail too see why your upset. The obvious solution would be to replace the lights, exhaust etc with stock units.

Well all lights have to be SAE or DOT stamped and can not have any film on them...
If your car came equipped with ABS it must still have operational ABS.
How were the rocker panels fixed, any structural rust will fail.
Window tint is not legal on any front windows.

In the long run it will be better just to fix it and take it back, you get 30 days. If you take it somewhere else to get safetied after failing, SGI may send you a letter to have it rechecked by a third party inspection station.

OK thanks bud, Ichecked the lights so it seems my lights are ok because they're stamped DOT HR in front and in the back I still got OEM lights and removing film is a 1 min job. ABS is working perfect too, while rocker panels were fixed with aluminum and there was barely anything to be seen to start with. As for the window tint it's not on the front window but only the sides and back. The problem I'm facing is that removing and replacing all those just normal parts like front bumper, HID lights(which are actually safer than originals), new mufller would not really make my car safer in any way and cost too much only to go back to step one.

Muffler should only fail if it is excessively loud , missing , or is not there. Aluminum fix on the rockers, I need to see pics of this repair, because I am sure it will fail. As for front bumper, if it has the factory relectors and lights and factory crash bar and foam, it should pass. Tint on any lights fails, tint on front windows fail, it's the law here and we deal with it. Front lights will fail if they are not dot approved, or from a right hand drive vehicle because they are designed to shine more light into the passenger side of the vehicle to see any wildlife or pedestrians entering from that direction. I do these inspections for a living and I should have a pretty good idea. This inspection is supposed to be safety related items and items related to the provinces traffic laws. And as for abs it has to work, and no warning lights on when running, they still have to prove out, come on when started then go out.

All those things are working perfectly and pose no safety hazard in any way. Some parts maybe custom but other than the fact that it's different there's nothing wrong with them. For instance, front bumper can't accommodate factory signal lights in the natural way so the lights are round in shape instead and slightly more to the front. I'd take all of the sides and back window tint off I don't care and peel off film of the back lights too if I have to, but I really can't afford replacing everything that works fine already or getting another ride.

Permit race? No I'm not in the same situation. I just underlined that "missing and are not there" mean the same thing. And lol'd.
