17 inch tires? Empty
PostSubject: 17 inch tires?   17 inch tires? Icon_minitimeSeptember 24th 2008, 2:04 pm

ok, well I'm pretty sure I've scored myself of rim for the 7 Series. They are 17 inches X 8inches wide. I need some tires that would fit over these, preferably in a 45 series profile. I'd like to buy tires that could stretch over rim, so if you know a particular brand that would be good at that. But basically the cheaper the better. If they could be a "all-season" tire(I use that term loosely, and by that I mean something that isn't a dedicated summer tire), that would be great. Any suggestion?

stretching a tire is completely for fitment purposes.

there is no point in stretching something that isnt close to rubbing.

this will totally depend on your stock width vs new width and offset, and of course, your ride height.

stock offset is 20mm, width is 8 inch.
New rims offset is 13mm, width is 8.5 inch.

I figured I'd be like the VW guys and stretch the tires just becasue, but I guess if its not really needed...
This is what the rims are:

There should be no problem with fitment seeing as how I do not intend on lowering the car mroe than an inch in the front at the most, and the it shouldn't rub at all.

225/45/17 will be pretty square. if you still want a stretch id reccomend a tiny one, maybe a 215/45.

225/45/17 were barely stretched on my 17x9 buddy clubs

falkens and federals are pretty easy to stretch.

feddy's are also dirt cheap, a huge plus when daily driving with camber. ive been driving on my federals for 6 months now with 3 degress of camber and theyve taken ALOT of abuse, and i can still see grooves on the inside of the tire. huge tread life.

borbets are baller btw.

240sxy is right, plus those rims are so awesome, I was gonna buy a set last summer but never got around to it...

Can't wait to see them on your 7-series.

Those rims is the shit...but they can be a little tricky to find...Do you just want those wheels, or do you have a set secured?

well, I am working out a deal with a guy in BC for them.
You all will hate me for this, but I am getting all 4, for $350, shipped to my door. Now their condition leaves something to be desired, but I work at a machine shop, so I'm just going to throw them on the CNC lathe, clean up the lip, then paint them whatever colour I feel would be appropriate.
I figured they would be a nice choice for the 7, and since I could never find a set for my 318iS...

I do hate you for that! Do you have a pic of the actual wheel? Some have less dish then others and in my eyes are less desirable.

They aint pretty, but if they are straightened up, I'm sure they will look nice

And yes, I am keeping my 7. Atleast that is still the plan. Unless I can find someone who is selling a old 3 series cheap, or wants to trade for my 7 series.
