lol ya he bought the car with everything minus the stickers done to it a few months ago, it has a haggard ancient looking nitrous system in it but i believe he never filled the bottle. and waxed weekly? if he means a real wax and not just a spray detail, its no wonder his paint looks like shit.

edit: what the hell does he mean by projector taillights?
explain how a real wax ruins a paint job? Seeing as most finishing waxes just act as a coat, and do not polish/scratch or do anything like that?

i mean a real wax/polish using a buffer. last time i had my car in at ron's for a polish they recommended i do it once a year, twice at most. thats why im assuming he just means a spray detail or rub on wax.

Bang on. I saw this kid the other day at the carwash on Winnipeg street. He had like, some bottle of ICE wax (looked like water to me...) and just rubbed it on his car, never used anything to remove it...

oh fuck. when i want my car waxed i take it to someone who knows what the fuck their doing. ya its pricy, but black paint is far too easy to leave swirls in so i leave it to them.

lol you sould see my basement and all the auto detailing stuff I have bought online and yes earlface you are right polish only once or twice a year cause really you are removing very small layers of paint and if you wash your car properly you should get no swirls. Two bucket method with grit guards in both is the way I do it. I make my own quick detailer with ONR but don't use it often would rather wash it and if it needs wax then maybe.

On a side note what wax does everyone use I'm getting a collection happening I want to try the paste souveran and zymol still. I like to try and buy most of my stuff from eshine if not autogeek

polishing and waxing and spray wax are 3 different things.

1. polishing you are actually physically stripping down the paint with a rubbing compound. (once or twice a year... no more)

2. waxing by hand (or orbital) with an actual solid / liquid (like ketchup consistency) puts on a nice thick layer on your car. This makes your car glossy and fills in small imperfections. Good protection from the elements.

3. spray waxing at the car wash doesnt really do that much.... I dont see it making your car look any better and it lasts 2-5 days. (if that). It KINDA protects it from the elements?? not but really. The only thing i can see it doing is it allows water to beed off of your car and it stays a little cleaner longer. (especially if it rains the next day or something)

waxing your car weekly (#2) would be ridiculous. Im pretty sure the kid washes his car and hits the WAX option at the end and thinks he is waxing his car weekly.

AND kevin. Yes... pay someone to POLISH your car, but dont pay them to WAX it.

Never got the point of that wax option at a carwash never used it seems like a waste and I'm sure its not carnauba wax.
I'm still to scared to use my rotary on my car only on shitty cars I use it, so its the DA on my car.

i only use meguier products and a few luster glaze products for certain things. just need to get my own makita 9227 and I should be back in bussiness with the shine game. as well I would love to get my hands on some more diamond-kote but that seems to be a dealer only option.
