I pulled the spark plugs tonight and I noticed little silver specs/flakes on the spark plug.. I showed it to my dad and he said "that would be aluminum" Which he says means it could be detonating.. Ive never seen anything like this on a spark plug before.

I pulled all the plugs and all the plugs were like that except the one cylinder closest to the passenger side. It seemed to be worse closest to the drivers though.

Example of what im talking about,

What the hell? 130_0703_09_zreading_spark_plugshea

Anyone have any thoughts as to what MIGHT be causing this?

I guess I could run premium if i have to but i really dont wanna..

try getting plugs in a different heat range. Try adjusting your timing if you have a distrubutor. If all else fails, run premium until you get it fixed. The excess heat casues detonation, so maybe you have a cooling problem or it is the recent heat? I know my race car had that problem when it would get too hot out.
