Good-Bye Kliens

So I'm not sure if anyone else knew this but it was news to me. I found out that Kliens is owned by two brothers, and they share the business, only one of the brothers went out of buisness i guess, so all the kliens with either blue or red signs close, but the other colour remains open, not sure which but i beleive the blue is still open and the reds closed

Ya thats what happened. And westside confectionary is owned by some family, but its not the same guy as westside pizza. Still excited to have a confectionary back.

Blue signs are open. He did sell the one on arcola and vic a few months back though.

The only 'Red sign" location staying open is the 4th and Pasqua location.

Red signs, blue signs? I didn't know there was such a cult following for Kliens!

Well I guess the west side chain is expanding and taking over that mini strip mall now haha. Slurpee machine arrives tomorrow! I shall try em and see if they are junk or not.

I believe their brothers. and the one that owns the red and orange ones has a kick ass house in whitecity and had recently built the store on pasqua and 4thAve. to hold all his accounting and everything. and if I'm not mistaken it cost him over 1.5 million.

I grew up with steven klien who's dad owns the red stores. I couldn't see bankrupcy happening to him. he has quite a collection of goodies.

My Dad is good friends with George Klein (Blue stores)

From what I know his brother is getting out of the convenience store business (except for 4th ave) and is focussing on his other real estate type things.

im gunna go there riht now and pick up some slurpees haah see what its like

well be and bod went there and its fuckin clllleaaannnn in there. everything is organized, new cameras, new pop displays, new counters.. i heard him say you have to be 40 or older to work there or own the place, which is a good idea.

slurpee machines didnt look done really so we didnt get one, but yeah overall the store is super clean, smells nicer in there too

Ahh I've been putting off trying out the slurpee all day cause i figured i'd go and it wouldnt be ready then id be all disappointed and down on myself yet again.

Went in there the other day and wow it looks 10times better sheesh, realized how much of a dump the old kliens looked like.

UPDATE: So I totally tried out the new slurpee's, only thing is they aren't new! That's right same machine, little cleaner, only large and medium. Like CMON at least offer small freaking cups, I can only drink soooo much before I gotta pee. Sadly I will become addicted and be a regular, life sucks.

are the slurpees still the same price?

Well all they had was medium and large, so I was forced to get a medium which was $1.67. Man if the small ones aren't $1 im just going to give up my habit.
