| This is going to break your hearts...
I am contemplating selling my CRX. For a drift beater. Figured my hatchback is good enough for a DD... Anyways.
I looked at a few cars over the past couple days. Not looking for something expensive, or RHD at all... Something simple. So I found an 83 Corolla SR5. Found out the 4age swaps in easy, perhaps even the 4agze too.
Aside from RWD, what do I look at for a drift car? You guys are definitely experts. Give me some pointers? The SR5 I am looking at is only like, $500... so that would work well for more aftermarket parts. Or is it more worthwhile to just import a JDM car?
Just looking for opinions.

| Depends how rusty your corolla is. And SR5 sucks. You want GTS. | |

| Honestly, you don't need much to learn how to drift.
I would recomend: - a decent clutch (you will be clutch kicking lots in a corolla) - decent brakes (so you don't fly off the track hitting the tire barrier, such as myself) - an e-brake that will lock the tires (depends which way you want to initiate, there are many different ways, I have found e-braking to be the easiest to learn) - And basically an "I don't give a fuck about my car" attitude because your car will take a thrashing.

Perfect. SR5 it is, 4age swap. $1500 for a beater. NICE

| I was just going to say make sure you it has decent weight distribution. Sometimes having a RWD isn't enough, and power isn't everything. Keep in mind old Hondas are making a big come back.... so says my super streets? So you were about to be in style. However, I do fully support you journey into the world of drift. I personally hope you do decide to go through with it but I am bias. Just try to keep it off the streets and come out to the track If you have any questions about the season PM Soup, I am sure he can help. Pick up or watch the drift bible if you already haven't it will discuss all you need to know to start. | |

| So I was bored tonight, and was looking at FF drifting. Found out about some left-foot braking technique, which I will try sometime... FWD can kinda drift apparently. But only kinda. It isn't near as pretty as RWD at all, and cannot compete. Apparently this guy was good at FF drifting or something... http://www.leftfootbraking.com/ | |

I think around 70% of the stuff I say on here is bullshit... except for the "I'm gonna learn to drift with a RWD car, and attempt to get good at it."

I remember the laughter. It still haunts my dreams. I didn't know about left-foot braking though. It can be applied to RWD cars too, and look a hell of a lot better. I read a whole thread with good arguments. The conclusion they came to is that FF drifting is fucking lame, and not a real sport at all. Period, And it doesn't compare to RWD drifting, but it exists. RWD is cool looking, and a hell of a lot more functional. I don't need to list why it is better, seriously... I remember the laughing.

| Our drift scene is just starting, so it would make sense that it would be full of AE's and S chassis. I am sure if we all see this through and establish ourselves more we will see more diversity in the cars being used.
If I actually knew how to drift, I would tackle an Aristo.... but then again I would have to change my username and that seems like a lot of work.
