| You guys may have figured out, I am a cheap bastard... I am in search of someone who knows how to change a windshield on one of my ED Hondas for safety inspection. I have a windshield in good shape on one of them, so really we would just have to take them both off, and install the good one.
Or would you recommend me just to suck it up, and pay the $250 or so dollars for a brand new windshield...

| swapping them is just fine. Lots of people have done it. I don't know where you would go though, we did mine ourselves, but mine os not sealed in with sealant. Most places will not touch a windshield in a car already due to the fact that it might break | |

| I figured places wouldn't touch the installed windshield. Anyone, from experience, dealt with a sealed windshield? What sealant should I use, what will get rid of the sealant already on there etc. I searched on Google, but there was no good info. | |

If your windshield is sealed into your car, then it is a structural parts of the car. Its integrity is key., and safety is one thing I would not try to scrimp on in this case. Try calling around to speedy glass or some of the smaller shops and see if they will help you?

| speedy glass will rip you off... windshield isnt that hard but marshall is right. i would recomend get someone to put it in.... i have a friend who works in ford and does this, perhaps he can do yours. ill ask and see what sealant you need to buy. I have read about this and to take it out you might need that piano wire an go from there

I will just suck it up and pay for a new windshield installation and such, don't want to mess with the very delicate structural integrity of my EF. Thanks for your help.

I didn't know that. Hence why I am going to get a new/used windshield, with no cracks.

| there are tools that remove windows. its like little handles and metal wire that cuts it out. hard to get a complete window out the first time i heard. takes a bit of practice?
and to reseal it , buy window urethane, can be boughten at automotive stores. 3M makes a good one. about 20-30$ for a tube. comes in a tube for a cocking gun.
never done it, just my understanding of it.
civics (uni body) do use it as part of the structural integrity, so i dont know how that would work.

| torque it? lol wtf. .
try this. get a few ratching straps and hook them up to the front and back of the car from underneath. start tightening and eventually your window will just pop out.

| I you need to safety the car you can buy a used one and put it on but if it's cracked forget it. Go to 306 and get in touch with dwillis or something like that. He has tons of civics where you might be able to get parts from. Also check the wreckers on 5th and saint johns. | |

| getting a windshield out is tricky, and in my opinion, not worth the time, i swapped them in my supra's, with the help of my neighbor who has been doing it for 20 years. and he could not guarantee that we could get it out without breaking it. go spend the $200 its going to cost to get a glass shop to change it. and then you dont have to deal with the extra broken windshield. | |
