Out of all the people on here who have done work to their cars, who has tackled a timing belt?
I recenly did one in my subaru, and now that it is all good and put back together, it sounds like it has a whine, quite similar to that of a supercharger actually.
I replaced 2/3 of the tensioners and gears, and a new belt. It didn't seem reidiculously tight, but it had good belt tension.
Any imput?
Could it just be the new bearings? Becasue even I think that is highly unlikely

way too tight. Loosen it up. What does it have for a tensioner setup? I've done roughly 50 or so timing belts and they are never set as tight as you think they should be. Honestly just tight enough so they cannot be pried off the cam gears is tight enough.

ok, thanks, everything is appart already, so I'll give that a try.
It has a self-contained hydraulic tensioner, which applies pressure to a idler.
I've only done one other timing belt, at it was only on a SOHC engine with a spring type tensioner.
thanks for the reply!
