What are the rules on driving without a hood, I have heard countless arguments over this and always see muscle cars rollin' no hood. So please someone come forth with some information and back it up!

you can drive around without but you are fully liable for any pedestrian that gets sucked into your engine bay and any damages that occur to them. I'm pretty sure how it works. Why?

Hoods on a unitbody car are a structural part of the car. Which is why if you look under your hood there is alot of bracing for a crumple zone. I will double check for you tomorrow but its not a good idea.

Exactly!
I've seen countless amounts of muscle cars day in day out running no hood and you see the same ones over and over again...

Thanks Ryan, I'm very curious.

welcome to saskatchewan.
Muscle cars can get away with what they want. I bet you wont see one getting pulled over for being too loud either.
And you won't see a diesel getting pulled over for being too high either

Your buddy who's a cop needs to learn the rules. I drove around for 3 years without a hood on my Mustang. Was pulled over several times, and never did the subject of having no hood ever come up.

The only thing in the Vehicle Equipment Regulations Act is that a vehicle equiped with a rear-hinged hood must have a dual latch.

Otherwise there is nothing stating that you must have a hood, but you are asking for attention if you don't have one.

Being that a hoo is an integral part of a crumple zone crash test piece they can give you a ticket and inspection ticket as well for safety related item. It is up to you whether or not you want to try it. The yellow 57 chevy in question is not crash tested to the same test available in 1957 and is a full frame car, so they do not have any grounds to issue tickets, and he does not attract unwarrented attention. I have not seen any law enforcement be picky enough to care and write up a ticket unless some was was attracting too much attention or lipping off the officer.

QFT, you have no idea how many times I was pulled over in the mercedes and had the car searched becasue of the car it was. I mean, I don't even look like I sell drugs. My white car is pulled over more times than I can count because they want to check to make sure everything is in good condition and not "a hazard to myself and others".

You've got to learn to deal with it. unless you want to drive around in a sunfire and blend in.
I would suggest againts running without a hood. I mean, someone, much like myself, could jsut come and reverse all your sparkplugs, or pump your timing, and pee in your oil cap, or worse, jack all your shit.
