I would imagine you need a decent SLR camera and some filters, to allow more flexibility in camera settings. I am not really an expert in photography, it is something that takes some time to to develop. (no pun intended). I could also be way off base with the filter thing. man the coloring in this pic looks amazing we need to do a photo shoot this summer for real !!!

yea, mine aren't great, they are not focused enough(no real topic in the photo). Its just been too cold out(I have poor circulation and freeze fast) for me to really screw around with anything. Keep in mind that those are not editied at all, becasue I do not have photoshop or anything of the like. In spring time I hope I get a little better

Oh photoshop, good stuff. CS3 is pretty good. What kind of camera are you using marshal? Anyway, you got the right idea, your pictures aren't bad by any means just refine your skills and then worry about photoshop. It is a lot harder to make a bad picture, awesome than it is to make a good picture pop so to speak. Like I said it looks like you are on the right track and the more you practice the better you will get. Just make sure you are using your camera to the full potential.

I'm using a Fujifilm finepix S1000fd. Its by no means an SLR, but it lets me adjust appature and shutterspeed and various other settings.

So I checked it out just avoid over zooming as the x12 optical zoom is a great feature but can cause a few problems. Your Manuel feature will help you build on the basics of photography. From your pictures it seems like you have a pretty decent knowledge of the basics. I don't know if your lack of an image stabilizer will affect night shots but those can be tricky to get anyway. Aside from that always check your white balance, and maybe narrow in on your subject matter while thinking in thirds.

That is my take on it but I may be way off base as well. Like I said by no means is photography my specialty but if you have any questions I am more than willing to entertain them.
