you just need a new block to get it to run again. Shouldn't be too hard/espensive to do.

to hard or expensive?

Changing an air filter isnt to hard or expensive
Changing your valve cover gasket isnt to hard or expensive
Chaning your brakes rotors isnt to hard or expensive

Putting in a new engine block is damn expensive and damn hard compared to anything else that you can do on a car. lol. name something that is HARDER and MORE EXPENSIVE to do on a car (other then something stupid like replacing the entire frame and interior). Making this a JDM sr20 makes it even that much more expensive and harder. Hell, if it was a c1500 witha 350, easy as pie and cheap as borsch!

Nathan, talk to this kid

http://www.306motorclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27135

Obviously hes got an engine laying around, maybe he will sell it to you and you can get someone to rebuild it. Then you can swap it in and part out your engine for whatever is left. In his thread he did say it was going to rebuild it, but maybe you can convince him to sell it. If he wont, maybe he can help you get a new one, or a block at least.

Ryan with the silvia is putting in a new engine. I dont know what his situation is with his old CA18DET, but maybe you can get that.

Anyways, sorry to hear that dude. Rough luck.

head goes onto the block. I assume sr20 motors aren't all that impossible to source. All he needs to do it put his old head on the new block. plus the associated gaskets and what not. It would be a larger project, but not undoable. But I have no idea of his mechanical ability though...

not something he could do alone.

I understand the idea " old head on new block" is pretty simple, but its a BIG fucking job Mad
