| Does any one know where I could get my hands on a sheet of 1/8 (or just a bit thinner)plastic or aluminum that is atleast 60inchesX14inches? I'm looking to make a splitter for the front of my car, and so far I haven't been able to find anything thinner than 1/8 to be sturdy enough(I don't want it flopping around at highway speeds, or a bit faster) Price is also an issue, so the cheaper the better. I've already tried Home Depo, CMS, and Co-Op only has 8 foot sections of puck board and I don't think it is thick enough. Thanks | |

| fiberglass won't be sturdy enough. Fiberglass cracks easily, and sags over time. That material wouldn't be a very durably material for this type of application. Thanks though | |

| sags over time?
well id hope you bolt it to your bumper and not just attach it at the ends.
you take a skinny piece of wood. fit it. fiberglass it. finish it. then bolt it up.
then in the end, if it does get fucked up by speedbumps, you wont cry because it only cost you $40.

| well I thought about doing it the way that I saw in a Modified magazine, but I figured that that might be a little too heavy. But everyone I've seen that people have DIY'd is made out of aluminium, I jsut don't know where they manage to get it from. When you said fiberglass, I assumed you meant just lay some resin and make it entend from my front air-dam. but If all else fails, I might just have to. It would be alot harder and more labour intensive than just a nice piece of aluminium. | |

| true, ive been wanting to make one for a few years now but i never got around to it.
if your worried about it sagging, apr sells the supports rods for $75 a pair, and they range from 5-10" iirc.
you could also source some carbon fiber/honeycomb metal but thats the more expensive route.
but if your looking for all possibilities, then i might just have to add that street signs are the perfect material for making a splitter. Im not saying go steal one.
but in the end a piece of plywood covered in fiberglass is the easiest to source, cheapest to build, and cheapest to repair.

| well co-op sells an 4footX8foot section of puck board(stuff they use in hockey rinks) for $45. That makes alot of splitters. I'm jsut not sure if it'll be sturdy enough. I just would hate to do al the labour associated with fiberglass. getting the wood to shape, then laying the resin, then sanding it smooth. Then painting. I'll keep doing some research and see what I come up with. A splitter would be reidiculously easy to make, I'll post up pictures when I do it. | |

| well I made it and cut it out. its mounted on the car right now. It is byfar my favorite thing... I just wish I added an extra 2 inches all around to my starting piece of plastic, it would have made it easier to design. If I can convince Jason to take pictures again, you will see. | |
