| Royal Purple 15-40W in the BMW, Castrol 20-50W in the Jeep. Oil is not oil, there are different grades and specifications. Like API-SL and API-SG? Certain types of engines need certain things. The Jeep has a roller cam, so it needs API-SL oil which has mero of one chemical that reduces wear on that cam. Do some research and find out what you need. Most older cars don't need synthetic becasue they were designed to run on dino oil. But its your call. I run synthetic in my BMW, but I bag the piss out of it, and I thought having purple oil would be the shit haha |

| I use Valvoline 5w30 dino oil. It burns synthetic too fast.
It really is not worth it in the least bit to me to put royal purple in my car because its a piece of shit, and i do a LOT of driving so i change my oil every 1.5 to 2 months. |

| Im really not a firm believer in these over priced oils like royal purple, im sure it works good but not all that nessasary.
I changed oil in an old 80's chevy van once that had 860,000 kms and still running pretty darn good. It was used for either delivery or a work van i cant rememver. Only ever saw cheap dino oil all its life. |

| parts source and auto parts plus are the only place I know that sell it. If you want a really high quality synthetic, try Shell Rotella oil. Its mean for diesels, so it has lots of cleaning additives, adn it can obviously handle the high pressures/temps of diesel engines. Lots of guys with european cars run this stuff, and its pretty cheap, so its the next stuff I'm going to try in my car. |

I buy it at Bennet Dunlop Ford. True story, I would rather buy it there and deal with guys I know than the MORONS that work at partsource and places like. |

| By the way, if anyone is interested I am going to be running Redline full synthetic 15w50 in the new motor. Redline makes some of the best oils because they CHOSE not to be API certified so that they could keep some additives that help prolong engine life (ie. Zinc Dithiophosphate) |

same here...As i read more an more forums (even subaru forums) they say that mobil 1 is really bad! they even said royal purple is just as bad aswell but i dunno. It looks to me that royal purple is really good tho! Now i asked a tech the other day about changing oil and i was told just to not "flush it" just to drain it and replace. This true? |
