Took out the stock deck from my civic and put in the one from my old winter beater and now none of the lights behind the gauges light up and neither do the ones behind the fan controls. Everything works (signals, 4 ways, brake lights, deck, fan controls) just that there are no lights to see what you are doing. any suggestions?

I had some difficulties like this when I first got my car.

Like was said, check your fuses, that solved some of my problems ... where you stick the fuses in was bent for a few of them and was not making a solid connection with the fuse so no current was flowing past the fuse ... this actually lead to my car not starting and getting towed from work one night. Meters work wonders ... you can trace the problem back to where you start to have problems.

Hm if you have no gauge lights check to see if you have no tail lights? If you got tail lights its not a fuse casue at least on my year of civic its the same fuse for radio, tails, instruments
