PostSubject: Civic with ITR swap   Civic with ITR swap Icon_minitimeMay 18th 2011, 11:31 am

ok so a friend of mine has had a 94 Civic CX hatchback with a JDM b18c type r swap sitting in his garage for the last 4 years untouched as a project. The last state of it running, it was burning oil like a motherfucker, when it hit vtec it was almost like a mushroom cloud of black smoke. Anyways he took the motor out of the course of the next season and rebuilt it in it's stock form and reinstalled it still unfinished, he managed to get a 5 lug swap while he was at it, unfinished as well. So basically this car was a project that was left alone that still needs quite a bit of work done to it including the engine, need to get it timed and running, everything connected back up, brake parts, tires, just things here and there not to mention needs to be tuned. Anyway I offer him 4500 for this project unfinished with the intent of getting it going again but he wants 6k for it that way it is. Am I the one who is being unreasonable? Here is the basic rundown of the car.

94' Civic CX hatchback
JDM ITR swap
ITR 5 lug swap
newer stock axles
hacked integra dash
stock interior besides the dash and its blue
car was painted but there was some surface coming back on the wheel wells if i recall

Whats this thing worth and what would you pay for it.

It's hard to value a not running car. A rusting EG is what it is, but a real fresh ITR motor and LSD trans are worth some dollars.

Would it even be worth $6000 running though? Seems steep. What wheels and suspension are under it?

6k is completely and utterly unreasonable.

from what it sounds the car is not mint and also not running. you could buy an eg hatch and swap in a b18c for under 6 easy.

Id say even 4500 is to much for what it is.

For a rough comparison I would probably try and sell my civic running in the market of 8-9k and mine is completely rust free has over 14,000 invested not including the car with a fully built ls vtec and the list goes on for mods.

So in short yes 6k is wayyy to much on hondatech you could get a nice finished one for that price.

He should be lucky to get 4500 for it

yeah I thought $4500 was a bit much too, I was just trying to make a reasonable offer. The car is complete, but its the money he soaked into it, he wants to get it back and I said it will never happen. I think the car is on ground controls not sure though, if anyone of you remember Kris Blyth, this is his old car.

whats all included in the 5 lug swap? since its a CX I am guessing there isn't 4 wheel disks on it and the amount of work just to get the rear trailing arms in would make me have to say 6 grand is way too much. trust me you want to pay someone to do the rear disk swap(drop fuel tank just to get the ebrake cable in and guaranteed countless amounts of stuck bolts...). 6 grand would be fair if the car was running(mint) and the 5 lug swap was already done. your offer is pretty generous and I doubt hell find anyone who will pay what your offering(specially a buddy).
