They're Bridgestone Potenza's, Honda's favorite tires!!! lol, reading reviews of em people love em, but why spend double on a performance tire? you plan on tracking it?

What would people run on a 15x8? Im thinking 195/45/15?!?! I wanna go lower and not sure how much tire I'd be able to tuck with 195s!

Someone who works at a tire shop on here was saying the can do Federal 595's for about $100 a tire. Which is a pretty stellar deal considering it's local.

Also if you don't mind waiting, www.tires-easy.ca

The biggest thing is the 595's are a bit softer and grippier with a UTQG of 240 vs 340. Both are good tires. I'm pretty sure the 595's are the softest/grippiest tire you can buy in 195/45-15. Every other brand is a bit harder rubber.

If I don't buy those Federals locally (I always to prefer to go local if price is reasonable) then I'll probably order those Marangoni's off that site. They are usually a bit more pricey then what they are selling them for. I know from the VW forums those tires are really popular in Europe, made in Italy and very good. They have just recent come to North America. And they split the Treadwear rating of those other 2 at a decent 280AA-A

you need to listen to people who have actually used the tires and not just read about them.
federals are hard as shit. they last forever. ive drifted on mine brand new last may. i run camber in the back, spin the wheels like a dickhead whenever and i still have 80+% on the rears.
grip? almost non existant at times. wet traction? forget about it. only reason i run these is because they last forever when you drift on them.
and you cant compare tire rating from company to company, the tire manufacturers do their own testing making the results inconsistant.

Federals don't work for you got it. What have you good luck with with your current set up?

Yeah I know that UTGQ rating to manufacture to manufacture is inconsistent. But it still gives you a good idea what the tires is about. Like Hoosier DOT race tires are rated at 50 or less, Falcon Azeni's at 200, Cooper All Seasons 400, Michelin high mileage tires at 800. It definitely helps put them in a ballpark of what they were intended for.

I like the overall blocky shoulder look of the 595's. Option are really limited in that size we are looking at. I'm mean is the Nexen really going to grip any better then the Federal? Nothing in that size is a really grippy tire. But then again we aren't talking about shaving seconds of a lap time or something. These are street tires to be used in pretty normal ways.

Is it coincidental that all tires in this size have a very similar deep V directional tread pattern?

Hell yeah, haven't talked to him yet but I intend to along with all the other tire shops. Hopefully Shawn will hook me up! And with the whole grip issue, its not a big deal, would rather buy a tire thats gunna last longer cause this wheel/tire setup is for show, not go. The 14's will be for the echo lake road trips... Very Happy BTW, for all of you that don't know, the road was repaved and is smooth as glass, me and my buddy in the Subie had a mad rally session out there a week ago. Think 7 bridges road but paved.

I'm pretty sure it was Fountain that had the Federal 595's. That's most likely what I'll end up doing.

they do work for me for what i use them for. daily driving and beating the shit out of. and they last a really long time. ive been running these same time for 2-3 years now because theyre so hard.
but taking these to autox, which i have, i shouldve saved my money. after each autox, the only thing i wished was different on my cars was the tires.

I'm not going to fault your set up, but ride height and camber definitely affect rear traction. Is your rear higher then the front? Weight transfer means a lot. Lack of weight transfer also explains why the tire isn't wearing that fast. If you don't get weight on it, it's just spinning unburden.

Then again I'm not looking to go fast with these tires, just something decent for street duty. If they last a few years great. Cool

im not stupid enough to give me 2cents when i know my setup isnt going to be ideal.
when i took the rx7 to autox, it had functional ride height, if thats what youre saying. and the dampers were tuned properly and camber was withen factory specs. and no i dont rock dragster rake, im not justin nuport.

I drive a VW it can't spin the tires anyways. Razz

If they lasted all that abuse I'd say they did ok then???? Did you feel ripped off buying them?

LOL what kinda rake does Justins Del Sol run? At least rake on a FWD car is better then rake on RWD car. And I'm not kidding, it helps take out some understeer and keep weight on the front end for traction. I don't mean ridiculous rake, but like a subtle rake. Back in the day before coilovers were popular a lot of lowering spring sets for FWD cars had a staggered drop like 2.25" front - 2.0" rear or even a bigger difference then that.
