Tipping is such a touchy topic, I mean how much is too much and how much is not enough!
And since when is it mandatory to tip? You do a shitty job why the fuck should I feel obligated to give you x amount percent of the bill to support you?

I'm pretty sure the bare minimum percentage is still 10%. If the person is polite about things (even in a situation where, say my food was overcooked in the kitchen and they have to re make it), I'll usually tip somewhere between 15-20%. If the person is really impolite or just overall unpleasant to be around, I tip less than 10%, if I do at all.

But dont you feel even though if you do tip 10% they even feel snitty about it, like my god.
I don't get why the boss can't just pay them more instead of relying on the customer to help pay part of their wage?

I'm paying you $15 for a burger that cost you what like 1/8th to make and I have to support your staff?

You have an expensive fancy phone, It should have a tip calculator. I usually tip like $2-$3 regardless. I don't understand why I should have to tip $50 if I spend $500 on a meal for example.
I don't get tipped by the customer if I make them a kick-ass part for them. A waitress/waiter is doing their job. Most of the time the tips are shared between everyone, and I don't like that

See that's fair, I do agree when they share it amongst them all then that one person may not go all out to make your experience the best cause in the end it gets shared.

A waitress at Red Lobster went up and above every experience I have ever had, she came across as actually caring and made sure the meal was to perfection, My drink was like 2/3rds finished and without a word even she brought me out a new one!

My meal came out to $21 so I just gave her $30, She went up and above so I feel as though that should be rewarded.

I feel for you. I hate tipping...

Usually, if the server is nice, I do 10%. Lots of times, I leave no tip, because my glass of pop became empty and didn't get re-filled for a while. It is all about the beverages. If your mouth is never dry, that is a good thing. Tip them 10%.

Honestly, there are other jobs that deserve tips. Servers do not work hard enough to deserve that much extra money. Tip the next guy that fills your gas tank when it is -43 out... they deserve a tip. Hell, the kitchen should get all the tips. They do the actual work.
"OOOOH look at me, carrying your food for you. Pay me now."

"I made your food delicious. But I get no extra money."

I would rather go grab my food from the kitchen than tip servers....
Or grab my own drinks too.

It depends on the situation, I tip good when I get a good server, but its usually only when I go out for drinks. However, if they suck I tip them nothing, or even worse is just tipping them a laughable amount.

When I was in Ottawa I had the worst server ever, so on our bill of $70 I tipped him like 85 cents, just so that he knows he sucks ass.

Actually 15% is the expected minimum. My wife has worked as a server in fine dining for years to put herself through school and made a wack of cash doing it. Keep in mind most servers make minimum wage, work long hours, and put up with bitchy people all day. (depending on where you work) Not to mention they clean up after you when you leave. I never used to tip myself, until my wife got into the industry and I saw the other side of things. Now I look at tipping as a "thank you" to the server for great service. If the service is shitty, then don't tip. If the food is shitty, send it back its not the servers fault.
my 2 cents

cause i will buy a grilled cheese and fries worth 5.99 then tip 5 dollars
also i had no idea you were suppose to tip hairdressers
and im not sure if i should tip the bike shop when they lace my wheels even though they charge like 50 bucks an hour for labor

I have always tipped hairdressers, however I got one last time and she was the biggest bitch ever.
Like horrible attitude, bad mouthed people nonstop and so on.
It came time to pay and she all the sudden is sooo nice so I was like I will pay by debt then said wait never mind I'll do visa.

When you pay with like credit card there are no tip options ahah.
